Developing Local Food, HMPPI UMBY Produces Ganyong Flour Donuts


To succeed the work program of the Division of Local Food Product Improvement (P3L) the Indonesian Food Concerned Student Association (HMPPI) Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta (UMBY) which is in charge of exploring and developing local food products, carrying out local food development activities for Canna Flour Donuts. This product is named "Donatt Tepung Ganyong Mleyot Abiezss By P3L Gokiell".

Processing is carried out at 07.00-09.30 WIB, then the products are exhibited at the Agroindustry Festival which will be held on 28-30 June 2022 at 10.00-13.00. Canna flour donuts are sold at a price of Rp. 3000/pcs. The Agroindustry Festival was attended by 42 booths, namely study programs at the UMBY Faculty of Agroindustry, namely Agricultural Products Technology Study Program, Agrotechnology Study Program, and Animal Husbandry Study Program.

The advantages of these donuts are processed using additional canna flour. Canna flour is flour that comes from the canna plant, where canna is one of the local foods that is rarely known by most people.

This project activity aims to bring back the existence of processed canna in the form of modern products in the form of donuts combined with various kinds of toppings such as oreo toppings, chocolate toppings, sprinkle toppings, and strowbarry glaze toppings, so that people are expected to be more familiar with the canna plant.

Making canna flour donuts using ingredients including high protein wheat flour, canna flour, and potatoes. The process of making Canna Flour Donuts is documented by the Information and Communications Division (Infokom) which is in charge of processing information to be shared and managing social media. The documentation was then uploaded to the UMBY HMPPI YouTube channel, in order to provide information to the public about how to make Gayong flour donuts.
